James Sommervill
Study object.
Description clock: I would like to restore this clock because it is historically very interesting.
- An English longcase clock with alarm function is extremely rare.
- Back of the dial is numbered No.2. Prototype additional window ?
- Original manufactured extra window is fully expanded on the back of the dial.
- No false holes or falsifications to be found.
Description cabinet; The high-quality flower mahogany veneered slim case in London is beautifully subtly inlaid with fruit-wood. Next to the dial, solid mahogany pillars with beautiful fire-gilt flutes. No expense has been spared on the foot either; flower mahogany veneered, solid overlaid mahogany band motif. Beautifully shaped foot with solid mahogany double plinth. It doesn’t get any better.
CALL-UP:
If someone, preferably an expert, knows the meaning of this extra window or has seen it somewhere (documentation) I will be very excited and would like to hear about it. If someone can also explain the original scripture/riddle in this window “FDW Ertvelde”, I will be even happier.
