Stephan Rimbault, musical bracket clock, dubble signed
18th Century Stephan Rimbault Hour-Quarter Pull-repeating Bracket clock with carillon.
This clock, is one of the first musical bracket clocks ever made. The pinned cylinder is placed between the backplates. High Quality noted tunes are playing with 15 hammers, on 8 bells. The Stephan Rimbault backplate is fully engraved. Even the Bridge of the spinning fly is engraved. The backplate is elaborately engraved around the maker’s signature. The Rimbault family has a rich clockmaking history that goes back before 18th century. Every screw, nut, engraving of this Masterpiece tells you a lot what you can learn from your father. Later Rimbaults, for example after 1744, didn’t reach the high quality standard. The Engraving becomes less powerful, and even later the beautiful Stephan Rimbault signature on the back plate disappears.
Note; Not even the prestigious British Museum has a Stephan Rimbault with a back plate signature.
